Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer (or colon cancer) is cancer that occurs in the colon or rectum. Sometimes abnormal growths, called polyps, can form in the colon or rectum and may turn cancerous over time.

Colorectal cancer cells metastasize through blood and lymph vessels to other parts of the body such as liver, lungs, adrenal glands, brain, and lymph nodes. Thus, regular follow-up examinations are necessary for colorectal cancer patients as a measure against metastasis and recurrence.
